AUTO INSURANCE
The Perils of Auto Insurance.
Section A
of your policy (commonly referred to as PLPD or third party
liability) protects you from legal liability for injury and
property damage to others if you are deemed at fault in an
accident. You should carry at least $1,000,000.00. Some Lawyers
suggest that up to $5,000,000.00 is appropriate.
Section B
Pays medical expenses, etc. despite fault.
Section C
Collision - Speaks for itself and includes
'upset'.
Fire and Theft (or Specified Perils) covers
fire, lightning, theft, windstorm/hail, explosion, earthquake,
riot, falling aircraft, rising water and certain transportation
perils.
Comprehensive covers all perils other than
Collision. Renfrew Representatives insist on Comprehensive
coverage on your behalf (unless a special risk issue exists,
of which you have been notified).
Did You Know...
Most Policies Are Limited In Their Coverage Of The Following:
Unless you carry the Waiver of Depreciation (available on new cars only) all automobile
settlements are on an Actual Cash Value basis. Depreciation
is, unfortunately, applied.
Personal belongings in your vehicle are covered under your
Home Insurance Policy (with replacement cost).
Attached equipment is covered under your Auto Insurance
Policy (without replacement cost coverage).
You must let us know if you have special attached equipment
(i.e. stereos) and may be limited in the amount covered.
Once you've advised us, your vehicle in storage is covered by your Auto Insurance
Policy.
Going South
As mentioned above you may purchase Collision and Comprehensive
of a vehicle you rent. As to Liability, the following is very
important: The Automobile Policy provides coverage for the liability
for use of "any Automobile of the Private Passenger..."
(P.10, 5d.) in Canada and the United States. However, due to
complex variations from one state to another, we highly recommend
that you purchase the Liability Insurance offered by the Rental
Company. This will protect from State Legislative and Bureaucratic
delays while your claim is being settled. If you are travelling
to the United States for more than 30 days, it is important
that you notify us to ensure you are properly covered and to
determine if an additional charge from the Insurer may apply.

Representative if you require more information or want
to increase coverage on these items.
